The Kearsarge building in downtown Portsmouth is a quintessential New England historic jewel. Built in the 1870s, the building originally served as a hotel and is located on the southwest corner of Congress and Chestnut Streets. The Kearsarge building now serves multiple commercial tenants.

DMA is the "Architect On Call" for the building owner. The firm has lent design expertise to the meticulous restoration and interior renewal of common shared spaces as well as numerous tenant fit-up spaces to improve the business offerings of suite occupants. Code compliance modifications and structural reinforcement efforts were sensitively handled to uphold the building's dignity.

DMA has also put thoughtful planning towards the future of available suites within the Kearsarge. The vacant spaces have been renovated, boasting dramatic exposed brick walls and restored period windows.

Now the process of establishing a commercial space within the building is seamless and produces a finished result that is equal parts time-honored and modernly polished.
