DeStefano Architects recently completed the renovation of Centrix Bank's new home at 163 Deer Street in Portsmouth

Date: Tuesday, Feb 7, 2006

Centrix Bank's new offices, formerly the "Genip Tree" café, was a non-descript building with the advantage of a drive-thru on a well-traveled side street. Centrix had been searching for a branch location to accommodate a drive-thru window, something that is difficult to find in the heart of downtown Portsmouth due to traffic concerns.

DeStefano Architects dramatically changed the exterior appearance of the existing building by adding two structures that highlighted the entry and covered drive-thru and then anchored the building to the site with the use of traditionally detailed columns. Other features were added such as arched gables, divided light windows and gray cobblestones for the front walkway. All together these details created a warm and welcoming facade in keeping with Portsmouth's historic character.
